On January 27, 2018, EAHS competed against 14 other high schools in DeKalb’s Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl competition at Arabia Mountain High School. Preparing for the competition was an empowering experience as it exposed the participants to books that were written specifically for young adult readers, and gave them the challenge of writing questions that formed the repertoire from which we practiced.

The participants, all seniors, added to their character through participation in the competition as they challenged teams from other schools. We will continue to expand our horizon through reading. The following EAHS students were participants in the 2018 Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl Competition: Kaylea Wiles, Jlynn Whitehead, Isaiah Moody, and Arnold Palmer.
